UKHA members raise over £300 to support Hospitality Action

by | Nov 29, 2024

Members of the UK Housekeepers Association (UKHA) Midlands & South West branch and colleagues hit the road to raise over £300 for charity.

The group walked 20km as part of Walk for Wellbeing in Birmingham to raise funds for Hospitality Action. They spent most of the day on Sunday 13 October completing the challenge.

Melanie Penn, Chair of UKHA Midlands & SW, said: “It was a really nice day. We met lots of new people and had some good chats. It was a great way to raise money for charity.”

Altogether, the walk raised £8,658 for Hospitality Action, with funds being used to support people in the industry facing mental health issues brought on by challenges such as the cost-of-living crisis and fear of homelessness.

Funding will:

  • help the one in two people with mental health issues that contact Hospitality Action for support
  • deliver in-person and phone counselling sessions
  • provide emergency grants to put food on the table.

Since the start of 2020, Hospitality Action has spent over £4 million and awarded more than 12,500 grants to hospitality households across the UK.
